Indian Army Recruitment 2026 is out..!! Applications are invited from eligible unmarried Male and unmarried Female Engineering Graduates and also from Widows of Defence Personnel who died in harness for grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) in the Indian Army. Course will commence in Oct 2026 at Pre Commission Training Academy (OTA)

Eligibility for Indian Army Recruitment 2026:-

Age Limit :- 

(i) For SSC(Tech)-  Men and SSCW(Tech)- Women-  20 to 27 years as on 01 October 2026.

(ii) For widows of Defence Personnel who Died in Harness Only.- SSCW (Non Tech) [Non UPSC] and SSCW(Tech) – A maximum of 35 years of age as on 01 October 2026.

 

Educational Qualification :-

Educational Qualification for SSC(Tech)(Men and Women). Candidates who have passed the requisite Engineering Degree course or are in the final year of Engineering Degree course are eligible to apply. Candidates studying in the final year of Engineering degree course should be able to submit proof of passing by 01 April 2026 and produce the Engineering Degree Certificate within 12 weeks from the date of commencement of training at Officers Training Academy (OTA)

Educational Qualification for Widows of Defence Personnel who Died in Harness

(i) SSCW (Non Tech) (Non UPSC)- Graduation in any Discipline.

(ii) SSCW (Tech)-  B.E./ B. Tech in any Engineering stream.

Selection Procedure for Indian Army Recruitment 2026

The selection procedure is as follows:-

(a) Shortlisting of Applications. Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) reserves the right to shortlist applications and to fix cutoff percentage of marks for each Engineering discipline/stream (cumulatively obtained upto 6th semester for Engineering Degree course/ 2nd semester for M Sc. Computer Science/ 8th semester for Architecture) without assigning any reason. After shortlisting of applications, the centre allotment will be intimated to the candidate via their email. After allotment of Selection Centre, candidates will have to log in to the website and select their SSB dates which are available on a first come first serve basis initially. Thereafter, it will be allotted by the Selection Centres.

(b) Only shortlisted eligible candidates depending on the cut off percentage will be interviewed at one of the Selection Centres viz. Allahabad (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bengaluru (Karnataka) and Kapurthala (Punjab) by Psychologist, Group Testing Officer and Interviewing Officer. Call Up letter for SSB interview will be issued by respective Selection Centres through candidate’s registered e-mail id and SMS only. Allotment of Selection Centre is at the discretion of Directorate General of Recruiting, IHQ of MoD (Army) and NO request for changes will be entertained in this regard.

(c) Candidates will be put through two stage selection procedure. Those who clear Stage-1 will go to Stage-2. Those who fail in Stage-1 will be returned on the same day. Duration of SSB interviews is five days, and details of the same are available on official website of Directorate General of Recruiting ie. www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. This will be followed by a medical examination for the candidates who get recommended after Stage-2.

(d) Candidates recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit, will be issued Joining Letter for training in the order of merit, depending on the number of vacancies available, subject to meeting all eligibility criteria.

Salary for Indian Army Recruitment 2026

Stipend during training and starting salary after successful completion of training will be Rs 56,100/-p.m.* (Starting pay in Level 10) , along with all different government allowances as per norms.

Age Limit

18 to 33 years ( 3 years age relaxation for OBC candidates and 5 years relaxation for SC /ST candidates. There will be age relaxation for PWD candidates and Ex- Servicemen also.)

Educational Qualification

10th pass (OR) ITI from institutions recognised by NCVT/SCVT (or) equivalent (OR) National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.

Note– Higher Qualification candidates like Diploma or Degree Engineers cannot apply. )

Selection Process for Indian Railways Recruitment 2026 –

The entire recruitment process shall involve Computer Based Test(s), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Document Verification and Medical Examination.

(A)  Computer Based Test  (CBT)-  the exam is common for all the posts.

There is 1/3rd  negative marking for every wrong answer.  And the paper need not be section wise, it can be a mixture of all above subjects. Actual question distribution may vary.

PHYSICAL EFFICIENCY TESTS (PET)

Based on the merit of the candidates in the CBT, candidates shall be called for PET Three times the community wise total vacancy of the Posts notified against RRBs/RRCs. However, Railways reserve the right to increase/decrease this ratio as required to ensure availability of adequate/reasonable number of candidates for all the notified posts. Passing Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is mandatory and the same will be qualifying in nature. The criterion for PET is as under:

Male candidates- Should be able to lift and carry 35 Kg of weight for a distance of 100 metres in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down ; and Should be able to run for a distance of 1000 metres in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one chance.

Female candidates – Should be able to lift and carry 20 Kg of weight for a distance of 100 metres in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down; and Should be able to run for a distance of 1000 metres in 5 minutes and 40 seconds in one chance.

Salary for Group D posts

All the group D posts mentioned above are entitled to get the basic salary of  (Initial Pay ₹ 18000/-) of 7th Pay Matrix, along with other government allowances seperately.
